6-Inch Seamless Gutters on a Large Ooltewah Footprint

Builder-grade 5-inch sectional overflowed on a steep, large roof. We measured design area, found the trough undersized, and roll-formed 6-inch on-site with 3x4 outlets.

Problem: Waterfall at valleys during spring cells. New-construction 5-inch with two 2x3 downspouts on a roof that designed well above 5,500 square feet.

Diagnosis: Pitch factor plus footprint. Not a “needs more cleanings” issue. Fascia was still sound. Outlets were the bottleneck after the trough.

Work: Tear-off of sectional, on-site 6-inch K-style, hidden hangers into rafter tails, 3x4 downspouts, splash-block to grade that already fell away. Color-matched coil. Estimate valid 30 days—no same-day close.

Outcome: Next documented storm ran the outlets, not the fascia face. Homeowner later added micro-mesh after the first leaf season.
